It all begins with the first bite.
Sicilian Cannoli - Catania
You can blame this video for unofficially starting the Londreleats First Bite career! Cannoli has been a staple of my life ever since my first meal at Lorenzo’s (RIP) in Garwood, NJ. To get the real deal in Sicily as a student abroad was truly a life-changing moment.
Salt-Broiled Whole Taiwanese Snapper - Taipei (Linjiang Night Market)
This was my true first taste of the Linjiant Night Market in Taipei. I was fresh off the plane from Tokyo and only had 24 hours in this magical city. I even picked my hotel solely based on its proximity to this night market. When I walked past the stall and saw these whole snappers completely buried in rock salt, I knew this was going to be special. But just like everything I ate in Asia… I was never fully prepared for what actually hit me in the soul and in the stomach. This was a meal I’ll never forget.
Chicken Negima & Pork Gizzard Yakitori - Tokyo
There is nothing like walking down the street in Tokyo only for your olfactory senses to be overwhelmed, in the best way possible, with the aromas of freshly grilled chicken thigh dipped in the most umami-rich marinade filling the already-sweet Japanese air. And when in Tokyo, if something catches your attention… you buy it and you eat it!
Shima Steak Sandwich - Tokyo
A lot can be said about this EPIC steak sandwich in Tokyo. Not only did one of my favorite food bloggers, Mark Wiens, dig into it while he was in Tokyo, but it was recommended by many other close (and trusted) friends of mine whose word I take seriously. This was simply a steak sandwich that blows all other steak sandwiches out of the water. From the quality of the beef, to the perfect applications of condiements, to the melt-in-your-mouth bread it was served on… enjoy this very special First Bite video.
