Who’s Lonny?

I’m Lonny! People ask me all the time if Lonny is short for anything… it’s not. But Lonny is a launching pad for many other names: Londog, Lonathan, Lonjon, Lonald, Lon___… “ you get the gist. But what most call me these days is “Londrel”. You can thank my 6th-grade gym teacher Mr. Ross for that one. And it has stuck ever since.

Eventually, I realized I really really love cooking for people. You can thank my parents for that one. I just love being in charge of what’s being served, I love being in charge of which ingredients I’m cooking with, I love intentionally shopping at certain places just to say “Buon Giorno” to the guy who grates the Parmigiano, and I especially love manifesting “Nonna Energy”. You see, I’m “Italian by Stomach”. A “Wannabe Italian American”. Once again, you get the gist.

And “Nonna Energy” is, in my eyes, the act of feeding people more food than they can eat. It’s making sure a guest always has food in front of them. It’s spending my entire weekend babysitting a Pork Ragu or going very out of my way for eggs that are so fresh that if they were any less fresh, I wouldn’t use them for my fresh pasta dough. “Nonna Energy” is tapping into the world of Italian cuisine and being the captain of the Chicken Cutlet Ship. Who doesn’t like chicken cutlets?! Only a crazy person!!

Naturally, there is more to the Lonny story than this but we’ll pause here and get some quality blog posts out there for your enjoyment. All that’s important to know is that I am on Earth to feed people via “Nonna Energy”… whether in the form of Pizza, Baked Ziti, Chicken Parmigiana, Rigatoni Amatriciana, Spaghetti Carbonara, Suppli, a proper Italian Sandwich, Eggplant alla Parmigiana, Mozzarella en Carozza, Caesar Salad, Meatballs, freshly piped Cannoli, Orechheite con Salsicce e Broccoli Rabe, and most importantly… LOVE. Welcome to Londrel Eats.
